The Lion is a symbol of
nobility, dignity and courage, capable of protecting the Truth and warding
off evils. Traditionally found in pairs guarding the gates of temples or
great homes, the male lion often has his paw near a jeweled ball
representing empire. The Buddhist goddess Guan Yin gave Lion a horn to fight
with and mirror to scare off demons.
